If you're playing a DVD movie on an old, single core system, the cpu will have to do all the display logic and may overload. In this case, a video card would help immensely.
In other cases the cpu may just be overloaded with processor specific tasks. In this case, the video card will be of no help in relieving the cpu strain.|||it does to some extend but ram does more. processor overload can be reduced by closing unwanted processes running this can be done by using the task manager in windows.|||In some cases yes but it depends on how good the GPU is, To handle the Graphics processing but you have other factors such as Onboard Audio And onboard LAN (Ethernet connectivity) That can cause processor usage.
