I just bought Empire total war, thought my video card would work i guess its only 250mb. I am not trying to spend too much but im looking for a good quality one.|||Well it depend to your motherboard. Because there are two models of VGA slots on different main boards. The older motherboards support AGP (Accelerated Graphic Port) video cards. But I think your own is newer which contains PCI-express x16 port. If you have a new motherboard with PCI-express port, there are two models of this port: PCI-express 1.0 and PCI-express 2.0. I guess you have a motherboard with PCI-express 1.0 slot. If so I'll offer you this video card: nVIDIA GeForce 7950GS. If you have a main board with PCI-express 2.0 I surely offer you this one: ATI Radeon HD 4870. If you've got a motherboard with AGP slot I'll offer this: nVIDIA GeForce 8600GS AGP 8x
Notice that if you have an AGP slot you will get a lot of bottle necks(It means your PC-Speed will slow down a lot)
Regards|||Really any modern video card will support Shader Model 2 so no worries there. A good budget card to invest in is an nVidia 9600GT.
I don't know exactly what too much is but for $100 that card will serve you very well. Avoid the overclocked versions if you can, they usually cost way more for only minute performance gains.
Check the sources for a great card from off NewEgg's site.|||have a look at Nvidia graphics cards:
