What is a good video card?

What is a good video card so I can play good computer games like Halo,Final Fantasy,Counter strike etc.... I tried to play halo and it said that I needed a better video card so now I am looking on puchasing a good video card.

> Please not too expensive but good quality :)|||Okay, here is a site that tests video cards: http://www.tomshardware.com/site/vgachar…

Here is a place to find them for good prices:

http://www.newegg.com/

The rest is up to you.|||at the very least, any nvidia card in the 6xxx family. the 6800 has pixel shader 3.0 and is the first card to have it, far cry never looked better|||look for on that says 256 Mb Ram, or something like that, they'll work fine for Halo|||The cheapest AGP video cards that will play every game that's out right now is the ATI X1600Pro, and the nVidia 6800 series (any of the versions). And if you've got ~$100 more, get the 7800GS. It's awesome.

The cheapest PCI-E video cards that will play any new game would be the ATI X800XT or the 7600GS, or better (i.e.- more expensive) will do fine.|||Kinda depends on AGP or PCIe interface.

But for Nvidia 6000 series or better. Ati, X800 or better. Stay away from anything that says TurboCache or Hypermemory as they use some system RAM to augment the card.

www.newegg.com is a good site to hit for prices.|||I use an XFX nVidia 6200 8x AGP card with 256MB ram. It runs smooooth with Halo. Tigerdirect.com has them with shipping for about $72, plus a $10 mail in rebate (or so they have for the past few months). It's still great at full price.
