I have a very good video card but my online games (world of warcraft) run really choppy?

Well, if you have a low amount of RAM or a crappy CPU then you will problems running games. Make sure you have at least 2 GB of RAM (doesn't matter if you have DDR of DDR-2) and have a decent processor (P4 2.8 or better). Also, make sure that you don't have any programs running in the back ground when you try to play WOW. you should have nothing running except an anti-virus and maybe some sound mixer program (for EAX effects or 5.1 or some crap like that.) I have a P4 2.8 single core (socket 478) with 4 GB of RAM and I can play at 1280*1024 with a HD 2600 APG at around 40 FPS.

P.S. your internet connection would not make your video "choppy" all the time. It may cause it to "chop" every now and the but even with a high ping ( which is bad) you can still get smooth video. I actually played WOW on a satellite based broadband that kept my ping over 1500ms and it was playable and smooth. it just took a sec and a half to do something when I press a button.|||It depends on your internet connection and the computer it self. I mean I have a friend who plays World of warcraft on a mac and the computer runs fast. How old is your computer. If it runs choppy than get it checked by a computer docter or go get a new computer get a mac its so quick you can`t effin blink!|||For WoW, it doesn't matter really on your graphics card. WoW eats more of your physical memory and processor speed (CPU/RAM bound). The question is how big is your RAM and is it at least DDR2 and what's your processor? If it's choppy, then consider upgrading either your RAM or processor (get at least Cor 2 Duo 2.53 GHz, those are fairly cheap on the market these days).|||Turn off your virus and antispyware while playing. Also cut down the amount the programs running in the background.

Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser

2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".

3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.

4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.

5. Click OK.

If you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.

2. Click Run

3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"

4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab

5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

6. Click "OK"

Hope this helps!

|||HOW GOOD IS YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION.....PROBABLY YOU NEED TO INCREASE YOUR PING....DON'T ASK ME HOW, I DON'T PLAY ONLINE GAMES JUST SEARCH GOOGLE ON HOW TO DO IT.|||Well, seeing as how you don't state which "very good video card" you have, it is hard to comment.|||Your internet connection may be slow or you don't have the latest drivers. |||check ur Ram and internet connection.|||How much and what kind of memory do you have?!
