What is a good video card for video rendering?

i do a lot of hd video rendering and i am wondering what is a good card?

i am planning on getting the HD 5770 and maybe crossfire it when i get more money

but is that the best thing to do?|||For video rendering in 3D design programs like Maya and Blender, the specialized workstation cards (ATI FirePro & FireGL, Nvidia Quadro FX) are far superior to consumer gaming cards. However they are ridiculously pricey. For a general-purpose card covering everything from rendering to first-person-shooters, the 5770 is an excellent choice.

And yes, plenty of RAM and good CPU are very helpful.

Oh, ok you're all set. Even a Radeon 4550 can handle HD video just fine.|||That should be good enough, crossfire wont be necessary unless you do some gaming along with video rendering.|||5770 is a good card for HD rendering of any sort, especially the 1GB versions. It'll also provide DX11 support which is great for gaming and stuff in the near future (if your into that =D)

You may also look at a 5450 if your on a tight budget, still has your DX11 support and reasonable performance, but is a fair bit cheaper and probably better for SLi - eg two cheaper cards allows you more money to spend on other components.

Also, consider filling your DIMM sockets with as much RAM as your motherboard can handle, particularly if you have a quad core CPU because rendering will happily take all the resources you can throw at it|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

no gaming for these cards. Trust me, my friend learned the hard way that just because the card is expensive, you can't crossfire these cards and use crysis to the fullest. Just not ment for that.
