Is the 9600GT a good video card for my system?

I just bought a refurb Dell Inspiron

6 Gigs of Ram

Core 2 Duo

22 Inch Monitor

Is a 512mb EVGA 9600GT video card for $55 a smart buy?|||It's a good buy for $55, but don't expect it to max out crysis or far cry 2.|||For $55 yes that's a smart buy but that sounds suspiciously like an open box product.

Poster above what the hell are you talking about? A 9600 GT will totally play those games, its only one generation removed from the current series. At what quality is another question but it will play those games.|||Are you planning on playing highend Direct X games like crysis, far cry 2 and fall out 3? If yes then I'd say no, you graphics card is the MOST IMPORTANT part of your gaming system, you don't want to bottle neck the freed up ram and powerful quad core with a cheaper graphics card. spen the $140 and get a 9800GTX+ it is a little more expensive, but it does come with a free copy of call of duty, so that helps right?
