Computer not running games/running smoothly? Good video card but still nothing what now?

Alright so my computer wont run games. I have a ATI video card (Radeon Series 9250) and I have a lot of space on my computer. But when it comes to simple games that shouldn't take much to run play slow or unresponsive! Maybe its my processor (if it is how to i fix problem/make my processor better)? Maybe I can upgrade my ATI video card? I need some help I got no idea what I need to do!|||More info please. what is your processor type and speed? How much RAM do you have? Hard drive space doesn't really matter.|||Make sure your using the new card instead of the integrated one. check to make sure your monitor is plugged into the card (in one of the expansion slots) instead of the original position (the one next to a whole bunch of other things, usb, keyboard, mouse etc. sometimes sideways and usually at the top on the case). if your not plugged into your card then its like not having it and it will be very slow. Your processor can also be a culprit, if you could add details about it that would be great.

if you arn't plugged into the card plugging into the card woln't immediatly change things, you need to install the drivers etc. sometimes change bios settings. look at the manual that came with your card.

EDIT:

that you for the extra info. your processor isn't great, but for most games it should work fine. the problem is ram. Your computer does not have enough ram to run the whole operating system and a game at the same time. when it runs out of memory (ram, Random Access Memory) it uses the hard drive as fake-ram but this is very very slow, which could be causing your problem. i would go to crucial.com. there site has a very easy to use setup, either put in the make and model of your computer, or let it scan your computer for you, and it will automatically tell you just how much ran you can have and what type you need.

you don't have to buy from crucial, it could be cheaper on newegg or amazon, but use the same type they tell you (look at either ddr, or ddr2, the number of pins, and the speed)

after a ram upgrade you should see a dramatic incease in speed in all areas.|||It could be the lack of RAM, most "video games" take at least 1.00 GB of RAM. It could also be you're processor, try upgrading to a AMD Athlon Dual Core x2 (or x4), or a Intel i5 (or Higher)
