My wife bought an HP a6764w system, it comes with an integrated nvidia video card on it. I want to know if upgrading to a new video card will help with games and what type should I get?
It has 1 PCI slot, 1 PCIe x16 slot, and 2 PCIe x1 slots open
It also comes preinstalled with 7 gb of ram|||You can buy PCIe x16 video card from newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…|||Sweet, u have a PCI-e X16 slot
that will allow u to get all the latest video cards
if i were u i would suggest u getting a 4850, its a Great deal for 175 bucks|||Coud'nt find the comp on google, but i assume that if it comes installed with 7GB, it's a real deal comp, upgrading to XFX Geforce 260 would make it complete.|||depending on your budget I'd either suggest a HD 4850 from Radeon, wud be about 130$ i guess, or, if you have some spare money go for the GTX 285, which is now the worlds fastest singe GPU card, i think.
this one would be around 400$ id say.|||Dunno what your price range is, I would recommend a 9800GTX by Nvidia to take advantage of that PCIe x16 slot.,.

Something like that.|||What kind of games do you anticipate to play? If you are going into hardcore games, the I would suggest GeForce 9500+ or ATI HD 4000+ series video cards. You can get the lower end of those series and still get great performance! I have an ATI HD 4670 and that plays Crysis on the highest settings PERFECTLY! I would recommend shopping at newegg.com for a good selection of graphics cards.
